1986 - 1992:
Summit Dental Systems (SDS) was founded by our President & CEO,
Cesar Coral, with the vision of heavy duty, high quality, and
economical dental equipment with a simple screwdriver approach
to service if necessary. The result of this vision was the SDS
Natural Dental Operatory and the Natural II Ortho/Hygiene
Chairs, the first economical hydraulic chairs in the U.S.
market.
The Natural Chair featured a single
articulating headrest on a manual brake assembly, function
rocker switches on both sides of the chair, Patient arm slings
with pivoting armrest on the patients' right side of chair and a
foot control with automatic patient entry/exiting positioning.
The Natural II Ortho/Hygiene Chair featured a hydraulic
cantilever base, single articulating headrest and a manual
adjusting backrest. |

1992
- 1993:
SDS introduces the 2000 Dental Operatory Package, which
included the 2000 dental chair, 1300 dental light, 1400
delivery unit and the 1610 cuspidor. The 2000 Dental Chair
offered improved features of pivoting armrests on both
sides of the chair and the function rocker switches were
replaced with membrane button switches for better asepsis
control.
The 1300 Dental Light offered dual intensities,
heat and glare free illumination with a color corrected
glass reflector for proper color matching. The 1400 delivery
unit featured two or three automatic handpiece selection
with a swivel instrument tray holder and the 1610 cuspidor
offered a porcelain bowl with centralized vacuum. |

2000

1993 - 1994:
SDS manufactured the
2000 XL Dental Operatory Package that was distributed in
36 countries. The 2000 XL Dental Chair offered more
conveniently located membrane button controls, a single
articulating headrest with adjustable pillow on a
friction brake assembly and an off-set yoke style
backrest assembly that allowed the backrest to move
fluidly with the patient's back as the backrest was
lowered or raised.
This package included an asepsis
style delivery system with the 1450 Delivery Unit and
1650 Cuspidor. The 1450 Delivery Unit offered three handpiece automatic selection with a built-in instrument
tray holder on a friction-brake arm assembly; and the
1650 Cuspidor featured quick-release autoclavable Bowl
Flush and Cup filler spouts and a low voltage vacuum
switch. |

1994
- 2001:
The SDS 3000 Series Dental Operatory added programmable
pre-positioning to the 3000 XLP Chair at no additional
charge, expanded its upholstery color selection and began
to offer double articulating headrests as an optional
upgrade. The 3000 Series Operatory Package also, offered
the all new, 1330 XL Dental Light with asepsis design,
the 1400 XL Asepsis Deluxe Delivery Unit and the redesigned
1650 XL Deluxe Cuspidor with post mounted utility center,
water quick-disconnect and a break-away housing assembly
to avoid accidental damage. Also in this time period,
SDS introduced the 1700 Orthodontic Chair, the very first
fully hydraulic orthodontic chair making the SDS Orthodontic
Chair the most advanced in the industry. SDS also expanded
its product line to include a Euro-style delivery systems,
hygiene delivery systems, mobile delivery carts, telescoping
assistant's arms, ceiling mounted lights, and self-contained
water systems. By the end of the year 2001, SDS products
were being distributed in over sixty countries worldwide.

2002:
In continuing in its traditions, SDS introduces the Biscayne
Series equipment line. This series offers many of the
premium features found in the dental industry today, at
of course, an economical price. For example, the totally
new Biscayne Dental and Orthodontic chairs come standard
with seamless upholstery, smooth contoured asepsis style
surfaces and a wider upholstery color selection. All of
our delivery units include asepsis styling, air-actuated
arm brake assemblies and each cuspidor and telescoping
assistant's arm features a breakaway housing to avoid
accidental damage. SDS, simply a better value.
